Danielle and Alasdair
We couldn't be happier that Danielle and Alasdair agreed to tell us all about their big day and getting married at Lainston House.

How did you both meet and how did the proposal occur?
We met on an online dating site and went on our first date in our local pub. Alasdair proposed to me five years to the day we met and we got married seven years to the day. It was a lockdown proposal, but it was perfect.
What did you love most about Lainston House?
We loved that we felt at home as soon as we walked in, the staff are so friendly and welcoming, we just had a great feeling and knew it was our venue. When you drive up the lane you know it’s going to be special and then you see the house…… it’s just stunning.
Did you have a theme or particular style for the day?
Our theme was bringing the outside in, lots of greenery, indoor trees, fairy lights, foliage and plenty of candle light. We used suppliers recommended by Lainston, Twilight Trees and Luminique events to bring our vision to life. Our florist completely understood our theme too and covered the beams in the Dawley Barn with foliage, it felt like a midsummers night dream.

What do you remember most about the day itself?
Everything! we look back and just beam. We had the most incredible day, everything was perfect. The Lainston House team were fantastic, they were always one step ahead of us, we didn’t have to think or worry about a single thing, we just enjoyed our day. We just wish we can do it all over again.
Were there any special moments or surprises during the planning and day?
For us, it was the attention to detail on the day, Kamil was there with us whilst we had our photos taken with a tray of canapes and bubbles to make sure we ate and had a drink. The team also made sure we had some moments together, just us, to take it all in. All the staff knew who we were from the moment we arrived and made us feel so welcome. Our guests couldn’t get over the venue, especially their bedrooms, it was the talk of the day – the size of their bathrooms!
What tips or advice would you give to future couples?
Try not to get taken over by what everyone is doing on social media, do what is right for you both, get ideas and turn them into your reality. You don’t need all the gimmicks, if you have a fantastic venue, great food and music, the rest is history.
