How did you both meet and how did the proposal occur?
We both knew each other since we were teenagers, I was friends with his sister. The proposal happened years later on New Years Eve back in 2013.
What did you love most about Fanhams Hall?
We both fell in love with Fanhams Hall ever since we first discovered it a few years ago on a drive, straight away we knew it was the venue for us. We loved just how beautiful the building was, it looks absolutely stunning in the photos and the décor inside was perfect for a winter wedding, especially with the big fires it just made it feel so cosy and warm.
Did you have a theme or particular style for the day?
Our theme was a winter wedding. I have always loved Christmas and wanted that white winter wonderland for our special day. We made that come to life along with the cosy feeling from Fanhams Hall itself with the great hall, the wooden staircases and open fires. We added our touch with rustic logs, lanterns, Christmas themed foliage and lots of pinecones. Our bridesmaids were in burgundy with white fluffy shawls and the groomsmen wore tweed style suits. Our day was complete when we were lucky enough to have a blanket of white snow the morning of our wedding.
Tell us all about the dress...
My dress was an off the shoulder white satin A length gown with a 2 metre train on the back, complete with buttons all the way up.
What do you remember most about the day itself?
We remember it just being absolutely perfect. Having the snow the morning of our wedding we were worried how the day would turn out and wondering if anyone would actually be able to make it. However everyone got there and we had the most amazing day with all our friends.
Were there any special moments or surprises?
We loved how Fanhams Hall was with us throughout all our planning stages. The menu was catered especially for us, we opted for a traditional roast and every one of our guests finished their plates, it was delicious. Our dedicated wedding manager for our wedding, Florin was amazing, nothing was too much trouble and he ensured our day ran so smoothly. We also handcrafted a lot of things for our day, we made all our centrepieces, signs and seating plans, wedding invitations, dried rose petal confetti and our wedding day newspaper. Which was really nice seeing our hard work come to life on the day.
What tips or advice would you give to future couples?
Find a venue you both truly love and then hire an amazing photographer and videographer to capture your special day. The day really does go by so quickly. Being able to re-live those memories is such a great feeling. Also don't stress about anything, when it comes down to the day they really don't matter, if something goes wrong you'll probably be too busy enjoying yourself to even notice.
