Our story

Once a private home, South Lodge is now a nature-first hotel where people come to reunite with their senses. We’re a proud B Corp, meaning we do all we can to support the environment.
From our zero-waste restaurant to our sustainable spa, we believe the best way of taking care of our guests is to do right by the natural world.
Oh – and it is spectacularly relaxing, too.
Our history
Where it all began
Built as a private family home in the 1880s, South Lodge retains many trappings and much character from its former lives, with an added level of luxury and comfort.
Within the original house, intricately carved woodwork and period wallpaper transport you to an era of elegance and charm.

Arriving at a great country house should be like visiting a close friend, where you feel welcome and instantly relaxed, knowing you’re in safe hands.
